Postcards from somewhere
Part of what's wonderful
As many of you know, I’m traveling this week, so the usual overthinking is on pause. In its place: a visual intermission—photos taken over many years, in places near and far from home, always while living out of a suitcase. They don’t belong to one story or location. Just pauses. Patterns. Bits of the world that asked to be seen.
Everywhere I am, the days remain difficult in all the ways we know too well—and also breathtakingly beautiful. Disappointment and fear coexist with wonder and surprise, and with moments that ask nothing of me but to look.
Think of these as postcards from the road. You can decide where they’re from. Thanks for being part of what’s wonderful in my world.

If one of these images caught your eye or sparked a memory from your own travels, I’d love to hear about it. Which is your favorite? Any guesses about where it was taken? I’ll be around, reading and chatting as I can.
If you’re able to support Chicken Scratch with a paid subscription or one-time tip, thank you. It truly means a lot. But no pressure at all. You can also help by liking 💚 sharing, and restacking ♻️. Everything here is open and free for everyone.
See you soon…

What a visual treat! You have such an eye for the world and talent for sharing it, whether through words or images. Each of these is a delight, and in such different ways.
I'm always drawn to roads that disappear into the horizon, and I love love love zooming in on the beautiful details of ordinary moments. But your cow startled me and made me smile the most. What a nose!
Wishing you safe travels, and thank you for staying connected here.
Such lovely “postcards” 😍 thank you!
I like them all yet the elephant one left me stumped at first because i was trying to make sense of it: you said you took those photos, so i know you wouldn’t just play with Ai to add an elephant on that swing.
It took a moment for me to get it 😂 to realize it was street art. That swing looks so real 😊
