Great metaphor.... We do have our own version of Rosie...... And like our "robo".... we don't keep our lives as clean as we could/should.....and we get stuck in tight places....By the way, ours is named Bertha....named after a precious lady, who helped us for years...kept our home and lives..really organized and tidy! We love the robot, but we miss Bertha tremendously..

I'm betting Bertha was a real gem, and I love that you named your machine after her. Thanks for sharing that, Barry.

I’m just dying up here in the northern woods! Hilarious! And yes, a perfect metaphor for life.

Elizabeth Beggins's avatar

I had the feeling this one would make you laugh a bit longer than usual, Angela. Hope those northern woods are treating you just exactly right.

It took me longer than it should have to realise that Rosie was not a new cat.....

I'm delighted to know you were along for the ride for awhile, June. And, thanks for sticking around for the finale!

Same, June. She tricked us. But she did it so dang well!!!!!! Nice work E. Love everything about it.

Thanks, Courtney. Fun to have fun together.

I sure hoped so! Thanks, Susan.

Hilarious and meaningful tome!! You really have a gift Liz!

Speaking of funny, at first I figured tome was "to me," minus the space. Thanks for joining my little metaphor party, Janet.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant story, Elizabeth - I loved this! Great metaphor - and I'm still laughing at the big reveal partway through. All power to Rosie! 🙌

I don't know how well you know Jackson Browne, but it took much of my power to not sing "Looks like it's me and you again tonight, Rosie..." at the end. Thanks for reading, Rebecca. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Okay. That was hilarious. THANK YOU🤣🌺

I'm glad you thought so! Thanks for joining in on the fun.

LOVE THIS!!! Given that I've had one of these gadgets in my shopping cart many times, sometimes for months on end and never hit the 'complete purchase' button I can relate fully.

and yes, Many of Rosies qualities seem to match my own- for good or bad

Elizabeth Beggins's avatar

If you ever decide to hit "checkout" on that shopping cart, I think you will not be disappointed. Meanwhile, ride the wave of deeper meaning! Thanks, Kate.

Such a clever metaphor. Wit and wisdom - Elizabeth. I'm quite happy for you to become our Wise Woman.

Elizabeth Beggins's avatar

I'm so glad you enjoyed this one, Prue. As I imagine happens with many writers, it kind of took on a life of its own (pun unintentional). If I can become a wise woman before my days here are done, I'll have really accomplished something. :)

Wow. You've hit it out of the ballpark, Elizabeth. I think Rosie needs a raise. Look what she did for you! And for us!

Elizabeth Beggins's avatar

Raising our glasses to her, for sure! Feels like the best lessons are the ones that come from the most unexpected sources. Thanks for chiming in!

I loved your scrutiny of her work and the very real connection at the end. I’m excited to read more of your musings.

Elizabeth Beggins's avatar

Thanks so much, Mary. Those life connections are still viable.

The post script on Rosie, though, is that now, more than a year later, we're using her less and less. I think, if we lived a life that allowed us to program her to run at night (we sleep with our bedroom door open) and we could confine her to the heavy traffic areas only, it might feel like we'd gained more ground. As it is, it's kind of like cleaning before the cleaners arrive. Some days, a light touch-up is all we need, but most days, we need so much more. Ha! Not that you wanted to know all that!
